October (1953) is an exhibition of new work from photographers Paul Ogier and Catherine Rogers. The images are an investigation of a landscape used during the atomic weapons testing in Australia, in particular, the 1953 series of tests at the Emu Field atomic test site in South Australia. Rather than just document this desert environment, this new work speaks to the experience of being in it, the effect this has on the photographer and the work made. Paul has other work from his series currently showing at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
This work is shown as part of the Head On festival and is at Barometer gallery, 13 Gurner Street, Paddington. The show will open on 4 May 2011 with opening drinks in the afternoon on Saturday 7 May 2011 (3 – 6pm).
The gallery is just past Five Ways in Paddington on the 389 bus route.
